The COW programs aims to support agriculture and the environment and meet total maximum daily load<\/a> (TMDL) targets in high priority watersheds by facilitating voluntary adoption of Best Management Practices on agricultural lands. These practices simultaneously support management and water quality objectives. Three of the CAFs are dairies, one is a horse boarding facility<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n4 sites were in the Stemple Creek\/Estero de San Antonio watershed and 3 were in the Tomales Bay watershed<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n12 Management Practices (MPs) and 37 NRCS Conservation Practices were implemented<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n31,500 square feet of heavy use area protection was constructed across three CAFs<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n81,750 square feet of riparian area was protected with fencing at four sites<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\nApproximately one mile of fence was constructed across five sites<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\nTogether these MPs help manage an estimated 3.5 million pounds of manure every year, split evenly between the two watersheds<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\nMPs will reduce pollutant loading of Stemple Creek watershed by an estimated 355
