Agricultural Project Application

Are you interested in funding for stewardship practices on a ranch, farm, or dairy in Marin County?

This is an ongoing portal for Marin County producers to express interest for projects on their working lands. Marin RCD receives several types of funding for specific projects. Based on your needs, we will match you with the current available funding and MRCD program. We look forward to reviewing your application!

USDA Advancing Markets for Producers (AMP) Program

Applications Open June 1-30, 2026

for Fall 2026 implementation

The program is designed to strengthen a regional supply chain of diverse agricultural commodities and increase consumer awareness. A second round of funding will be available in early 2027 - stay tuned for more details.

If you have questions regarding the AMP program, please contact Sarah Skinker sarahs@marinrcd.org.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Be willing to enter into an agreement with the County of Sonoma (to receive reimbursements) AND Marin RCD (to receive technical assistance and practice verification)
  2. Have a current USDA Farm Services Agency (FSA) number
  3. Own or lease property in Marin County's district boundaries

Fall 2026 Project Categories

  • Agricultural Stewardship: Compost, Cover Crop, Range/Pasture Seeding
  • Infrastructure: Fencing

If you have applied for these projects in the last year, your application will be considered. No need to apply again!

More practices plus specialized equipment offered in Round 2 - stay tuned!

Marketing for AMP Producers

As part of AMP, a coordinated marketing campaign is currently in development to promote local agricultural commodities produced through healthy soils and resource conservation practices. Eligible producers may access funding for the implementation of approved conservation practices, as well as dedicated marketing support through the Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM).

Reimbursement Rates

When filling out your application, be aware that demand for this program is high, and we will not be able to fund every project. We may work with you to scale down your projects based on available funding. If possible, apply for your highest priority projects.

Payment rates reflect an additional 20% for Technical Assistance (to be paid to Marin RCD) and are subject to change based on current prices.

Details to Include in your Application

Project applications that support existing conservation practices (ie fencing to exclude livestock from a current stream planting project) OR stack practices (i.e. compost application with range seeding) will be eligible for additional ranking points. Please include this information in your application. If selected, your project will be awarded on a reimbursement basis for implementation in fall 2026.

If you have questions regarding the application process, please contact Fiona O'Neill fiona@marinrcd.org

Interested in Other Projects?

We accept applications for all project types all-year-round! We will match you with current funding opportunities when they become available.

Marin Resource Conservation District stands ready to serve as your partner in land stewardship. We are a non-regulatory agency that provides confidential technical assistance. Depending on our available funding, we offer design, permitting and implementation (construction management) for projects that improve water quality and climate resilience.

Financial assistance is available for project implementation. Many projects do not require landowner cost share.

Project Categories

MRCD's Carbon Farming, Conserving our Watersheds (COW), or other programs support a wide variety of project types. Your project will be matched with the appropriate funding and program.
